Welcome back to our "Reviews and Recommendations" series, in which we recommend resources to help sensory and consumer scientists learn more about artificial intelligence!
Today's recommended resource is an article that reviews the differences between machine learning and classical statistical inference, from the blog "The Data Scientist" by Dr. Stelios Kampakis. This question is one that comes up regularly in our client work as a smaller version of the question, "What are the advantages AI-based approaches over traditional methods?" There is, of course, much to say on that second question but, for now, this article does an excellent job contrasting the prediction focus of machine learning with the model and inference focus of classical statistics.
