Today's recommended resource is a video showcasing an impressive achievement by Google and providing a beautiful illustration of both the power and the limitations of machine learning. On the one hand, machine learning, a technique focused on identifying reliable patterns in data, can perform feats such those that power the Google Bach doodle (behind the scenes link below) that seem magical. On the other hand, however, traditional machine learning algorithms are constrained by the datasets on which they run, making a shortage of suitable datasets a challenge for sensory and consumer scientists looking to implement machine learning. We will discuss machine learning options for sensory and consumer science in future posts but, for now, enjoy the video!
